Mike Heath (Lead Sonographer)

Mike has been a sonographer since 1984. He is highly regarded by his peers, his regular referrers and his patients. Mike has a reputation for meticulous professionalism, impressive knowledge base, application of diagnostic skills and a lovely friendly personality. He has a great passion for ultrasound education and is known for the hard work he has done and continues to do to advance the quality of ultrasound care in New Zealand. He has a particular strength and a strong interest in Musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Over the years he has convened numerous educational meetings and presented at high level ultrasound conferences in New Zealand and Australia, been a member of educational committees, an examiner for ultrasound candidates and been the Chairman of the NZ branch of ASUM (Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine).

Mike is known for his sayings ‘The most important patient of the day is the patient I’m with now’ and, ‘If I was the patient or a close relative what would I expect’.
